Back across the channel for a visit

After a quick flight back to Great Britian and a long wait at customs, we got a train or two and met up with cousin Tom.  He kindly drove us to Cheltenham where we met the new dog, Mel’s.

A good meal, a sleep and then Ros, Steve, Mel’s, Dwayne and I drove down to Cornwall.  What a beautiful place right on the coast.  We stayed for three nights in a dog friendly hotel where we had our own dining room for those with dogs.

We spent the next day driving along some very windey roads to visit some more beautiful little places in Cornwall.  We ended up at a pub, after Andrea’s head and stomach had calmed down...after which we went on a nice walk along the coast with Ros and Steve’s friends Pauline and David.  We ended up at their house for dinner which had been an old mill in the distant past.  Dwayne found a kindred airplane soul in David, oh goody, we found out about an airplane graveyard in the area, yeah, not! Steve kindly drove slowly back so as to keep my stomach calm, phew!.

The next day Ros changed plans, as that day was going to involve some more very windey roads which would have been a very bad idea for Dwayne and I.  So we hiked along the coastal pathway from our hotel down to another cove about 5km, according to Ros.  This short little hike took us three hours up and down some rugged coastline. We ended up at a little cove for some lunch and a break. It was beautiful but may have been longer than 5km.  We took a shorter route back along the interior pathway which only took us an hour and a half.  Back to our hotel for a quick dip in the pool and I mean quick, Steve jumped in and I think broke the ice off the water because that pool was cold, I mean Canada cold.  A gorgeous sunset ended our trip to Cornwall.

The drive back to Cheltenham was followed by dinner at the new local pub.  The next  night was the local Harvest dinner which Ros hosted.  A quiet Sunday with a large family dinner and then a quick trip to visit Zoe in Bath ended this three week trip across the pond.
