Waterloo, Azincourt and Belgium

Continuing with the history theme we ended up at Azincourt which was the site of a battle in 1415.  The French out-numbered the British at least five to one.  The British figured it was all over but the dying as did the French.  However due to some good battle planning and some fine long bowmanship (is this really a word?) they managed to win.  Here Dwayne and I are practicing our long bow style.  We went off to Brussels and spent a few days wandering around the city.  Found some fabulous gluten free beer (thanks to the nice man in the brewing museum) and some amazing mussels (which are a Belgian speciality!).  We had  guide meet us at the hotel and took us to Waterloo on June 18.  This was the annviersary of the battle which took place on June 18th 1815.  For those you are not history buffs this was not Napoleon's finest hour as it was his "Waterloo".   He lost and went to live out his life on the island of St Helena.  We saw a re-enactment of the battle which was really cool except afterwards we smelt of smoke and gunpowder. You can see how smoky it is from the pictures.  Off to Antwerp which has a multi level train station (this was the first one I had seen).  Also the diamond "capital" of the world.  Nice port city which also was an important Candian WWII site for the battle of the Schelde (sp?)
