Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs, oh my!

Oh yeah, and elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, impalas, gazelles, warthogs, mongoose, crocodiles, monkeys, baboons and birds by the thousands!  Wow! can you say amazing.  If you cannot, say it now!  Say it!  Wow! The animals and their antics were amazing. The first day we were in Lake Manyara.  We came round a corner and their was a young male elephant who was busy pulling a tree down.  In branches of course.  We watched as he flapped his ears at us when there was a noise.  From out of the bush came  Dad elephant.  He stomped the ground, took a pee and glared at junior.  Then mom and the other small ones came out.  She trumpeted, dad stomped and then dad suddenly realized we were there.  As soon as he turned and noticed us, our guide backed up the road very quickly.  Ha!  Apparently teenage elephants get in trouble from Dad just like humans!  HA!  We then went to Ngorogoro crater  This is a bit of a microcosm for wildlife in Africa.  It is only 350 square kms but there is a ton of wildlife.

We saw our first lions, our only rhinos, from afar, our first of many hippos, and all of the above mentioned.  Except for giraffes, its hard for them to get down in the crater.  We spent about ten hours watching the various animals and then the next day off to the Serengeti (how do you spell this anyway?).  This giant plain was full of wildlife.  Even though this is just the start of the migration, the animals are everywhere.  The lazy male lions rest and get up to look at the herd of zebras but then not do a thing.  They wait for the females who hunt.  The females look after the cubs. They are so cute!

The warthogs, have you ever seen an uglier beast?  Me neither.  The babies are so ugly, only a mother could love!

The giraffes move strangely.  They move the same side of their legs at the same time.  So, the left side moves, both front and back and then the right.  Weird!  The start of the migration of both the wildebeasts and the zebras has just begun. They move by the thousands, in single file, cool!  Ok, this was amazing.  If you have a bucket list and a safari is not on it.  Put it on the list!  Amazing and breath taking.  Do it, its awesome!
