RWC 2015: Great Britain

Well it's Dwayne's 50th birthday year and his choice was Rugby World Cup.  Four years ago we saw Canada play New Zealand in Wellington.  We watched the rest of the Cup and got a bit hooked on the sport of rugby.  So, in celebration of his five decades we are following Canada around this World Cup.   We started in London for a couple days to get over jet lag.  Had some superb Indian food, caught a show (Book of Mormon, very funny but controversial) and then caught a train to Cheltenham.  This is where my cousins Ros and her husband Steve live.  We are hanging here, mooching off them for a week and are catching three rugby matches while staying here.  Saw Canada vs Ireland (we lost but could still hold our heads up afterwards) in Cardiff this past Saturday.

Lots of Canadians in the crowd, my guess was about 20% were cheering for the red and white.  Prior to the game we found our way to the pub where the Canadians were hanging out and found Dwayne's cousins Marilyn and Rob from Vancouver.  Now, this was not by chance, we knew they were here.  Her husband is an old rugby player back when they played the game with even less equipment!  Ha!  Just kidding, less equipment would mean they were naked!  Ok, so if you do not know rugby these guys have shoes, shorts and shirts and nothing else.  At the Ireland game we had Canadians in front of us and two seats down.  Wahoo!  Go Canada!  We took my cousins the next day to the Wales vs Uruguay game and saw Wales unleash a can of whoop ass on the Uruguayans (?).   Off tomorrow to see some Japan players take on Scotland and for those who do not know, Japan beat the powerhouse South Africans and are running on a high right now.  My cousin Steve's rugby club, of which he is the chairman (like Frank Sinatra, you know the chairman of the board, hee hee hee), is doing a bunch of hosting of teams and has had the players from Tongo and Japan, with Argentina arriving tomorrow, so he is a busy guy.   Off to Leeds on Friday for Canada vs Italy.  Go Canada!
X
