Canada vs Italy, York and the "Map"

After a visit with the Ratcliffes (I think we were asked to leave because Dwayne got a bit wild and broke a wine glass!) we were off to Leeds.  We got the train and sent my other cousin, (Hannah; Ros's sister) a note and wandered off across the street to a pub.  We were thirsty and a bit peckish.  How surprised we were to realize we had walked into the Canadian pub in Leeds.  Strange that in a city the size of Leeds we found our way into the pub where all the Canadians were hanging out.  Hannah picked us up, took us home and pointed us in the direction of the stadium.  Go Canada!  Who knew that Hannah was living on Coronation Street!  HA! See the second picture......
Sadly after a nail biter of a game, Italy won, sigh.....   Off we went to York to hang out for a few days in between games.  Walked the wall around York, went into the Viking museum( apparently whenever they dig in the city they have an archeologist on site, in this case as the bank was putting in a new building, they found 9 meters of history going all the way back to the Romans!).
We were walking in York when we happened to see a sign that announced the  "Map that Changed the World" turned 200 this year and that the museum was having a talk about it the next night.  Then it got way cooler as it turns out the museum had put a rock garden replication of the Yorkshire part of the map in stone!  We saw that on our walking tour, that exhibit opened that day!  Timing is everything!  So, off to the talk that night we went AND they had one of only about 100 of these maps on display!  As well there were cross sections and part of William Smiths fossil collection.   This is the first geological map ever produced!  NIRVANA for two geeky geologist on holidays, wow!  After this, anything else will be a let down.  Off to Milton Keynes for rugby but what could compete with the "Map"!
