Cheltenham, the Cotswald Way and Portsmouth

After 3 days in Bath visitng the town and with the Thompsons (that's Zoe and I at a fabulous tapa restaurant), off we went to Cheltenham.  A cousin (our grandmothers were sisters) who I have not seen for 20 years was our next visit.  She (the next picture) and her family (most I had not met) were very accomodating.  We recognized each other at the train station without a moments doubt.  We hiked the next day (the third picture), a three hour trek along part of a path called the Cotswalds Way.  Sadly the pub along the way was not open. (sigh)  We were off that night for a pub quiz night which for small town England was very competitve!  Unfortunately the team I was on ended up with the bronze medal whereas the team Sparky was on got gold.  I doubt I will ever hear the end of that!  After some relaxing in their garden along with some dog walking off we went to Portsmouth.  We toured the D Day museum and the Victory.  For those not history buffs the Victory was the ship that Nelson was killed on at the end of the battle of Trafalgar.  Pictures of this to follow on a later post.

  2. We did try very hard to win the gold, but the questions sadly were geared to the guys. A whole round on sports, which I did not get a whole lot of help with. Thank you Andrea for knowing the tennis question, but that was it! You obviously took the sunshine with you, please can we have it back!! Looking forward to the next installment. Love Ros (who is the cousin mentioned earlier)
