We found a place that does not make a lot of geological sense. The locals who run the establishment seem to think aliens are likely, or a meteor, or dinosaur footprints or some weird volcanic activity. It is the only site that has this "weathering" feature even though the whole area has the same rock type.
This is what it looks like and it is definitely an interesting phenomena. As for why and what? I don't know but I am good with Alien landing sites. Mr Science guy has some lame answer about volcanos. Boring!
And what would a trip to Australia be without learning how to surf. So we gave it a try at a fabulous spot just north of Brisbane called Noosa.
This is the beach where we went surfing. Oh yeah and here is the last pretty bird picture from Australia.
I think we look like naturals, though I am thinking it might take a bit more practice before we are ready for the big time. I am pretty sure that we both actually stood on the boards for about ten seconds before falling off. That is one of the reasons I am hiding behind the board. So you do not see the sand rash on my legs from wiping out. I am thinking I may have a few bruises tomorrow
Thus ends the trip down under. We head to Brisbane tomorrow for a couple of days before heading to spend Christmas with my folks in Palm Springs. If anything exciting happens in Brisbane we will update the blog. If not, check into the blog about the third week in January. We will be cycling in the Mendoza area of Argentina, famous for its Malbec wines. Yum yum.
Happy Holidays!!
