South America; first stop Mendoza, Argentina

Its hard to believe but we are once again in summer! Yeah! After a quick trip to see the parents in Palm Springs followed by a quick trip to Calgary to see what winter is like, off we went again. We flew to the Mendoza region of Argentina. Famous of course for its....wait for it....yes Wine! This is the home of Argentinian Malbec. So we are doing cycling and wine drinking as this is an awesome way to see wine country and sample some wine at the same time

. We are on a tour with three woman from the states. Dwayne thinks this is just fine.... We are cycing in the foothills of the Andes.

The Andes appear to be suspended in the sky behind the foothills. The foothills here stand about 6,000 feet with the Andes about 13,000.

We have been to a winery that looks like a Mayan temple, one that has five course gourmet lunches and a German beer brewery in the foothills that brews five barrels a day and is named for a German Shepard called Jerome!

It is mid-summer here with one day getting up to 39 degrees celcius. One must consume their body weight in water to stay hydrated. Really, just water in that quantity, not wine. Why does no one believe me? We are here for another four days before we go to Chile and Easter island. So far, South America is great!!
